Whip / Lash
There are 4 fundamental Whips.
- Back Whip
- Front Whip
- Reverse Back Whip
- Reverse Front Whip
Other Whips will incorporate the more fundamental movements. The Back and Front are related as they rotate in opposite directions (see Rewind). The Reverse are related because they are the same movement for the Flyer, but from the Reverse poses due to the relative position to the Base (see Reverse). Whips require very specific movement of the Base's feet, the Reverse Transition will be distinct in particular for the Base.
The Back Whip, in its fundamental form, is a 3/4 rotation back from Throne to Bird. It is my favourite and in my opinion the most elegant.
In 2024 I thought 1/4 rotations similar to Whips (Base feet sliding) should also be possible, and I thought of the name "Lash". I invented first the Back Lash in theory, and it took me some months to refine. In retrospect, I started with the most difficult Lash.
The Back Lash, in its fundamental form, is a 1/4 rotation back from Bird to Throne. It can be thought to "complete" the Back Whip. You can see both of these transitions in the machine I named Whiplash:
There are 4 fundamental Lashes.
- Back Lash
- Front Lash
- Reverse Back Lash
- Reverse Front Lash
Other Lashes will incorporate the more fundamental movements.
The Front Lash can be seen in the machine Flash:
The Reverse Back Lash can be seen in the machine Reverse Whiplash:
The Reverse Front Lash can be seen in the machine Reverse Flash:
If you like Whips, try Lashes!
